artist bio.
the name is Swerv O Harold (not my government name, but close) and I am a self-taught, contemporary artist based out of San Antonio, TX.
99% of my work revolves around faces or physiognomy.
when I first started in 2015, my focus was drawing mask (at one point I wanted to get a tattoo back when I was in the Navy, never did tho). This morphed into faces eventually.
as of now, 2025, you ask me why faces, all I can say is this: as I’ve gotten older there’s a certain detachment that’s been happening with me; I don’t care to remember folks names because I don’t know how long that individual will be a “recurring character” in my life, so why. However, I’ll always remember your face. This, would be a good why, but that’s probably not a good answer. lol.
the main goal I strive for with my art is to draw the viewer in and evoke a strong, lasting, emotional attachment through minimalistic imagery and words that can be serious yet playful at the same time, as well as illustrate my culture. I’d like people to assign their own names and life stories to the nameless faces I’ve drawn.
medium used is typically ink, acrylic, and spray paint on canvas.
artist influence include Piet Parra, Keith Haring, and Nina Chanel Abney, to name a few.
